ITEM OF THE WEEK It's the year of 1954, you open the morning paper, and find out that Levi Strauss & Co. have just announced their newest model: it's a zip fly. You gasp at the news, it's astounding to have a zip fly as you're only used to buttons, this would make things easier and more quickly. The implications are limitless with the zip fly. In 1954 Levi Strauss & Co. introduced their newest cut, the 501 ZXX. The XX in the model name automatically tells you that it's a zip fly and not a button fly. This was the first model of a zip fly jean and it took off. This particular cut is modeled after the very first pair of 1954 501's. Not only did it feature a zip fly but it is one of the most tapered and slimmest silhouettes offered by Levi's Vintage Clothing. It features 14oz selvage denim and it's been treated so that it feels like a dry, hard hand feel when you grip it in your hands. It's slightly broken in by the faint fade lines that are distressed through the back of the knee and whiskers on the thighs. But that's not all! You'll notice that this pair of jeans has the wash code "Loved Ones." This is because this cut was the most loved by fans of Levi's and it's was the most iconic. Other than selvage denim, the 501 ZXX Loved One features a leather patch brand on the rear of the jeans. It has the iconic two horse Levi's logo with the waist and length clearly printed along with the cut. It has the zip fly with a Levi's button closure, on the backside (other than the leather patch) there is something quite special there. It features hidden rivets and then the red tab. It has a BIG E on it so that you and others like you will know that it's part of the Levi's Vintage Clothing line and not just the run of the mill Levi's that you see everywhere else. Oh no, this pair is special in every way as the design and color was taken straight from the Levi's archive. It's been reproduced from 1954 so that you can own it yourself! There's always been that part of you that's wanted vintage Levi's but A TRUE pair of vintage Levi's will run quite a bit of money (about $2,000 minimum) and we all know that you wouldn't wear them anyway. So, go on and get yourself some reproductions from one of the best! And it's a Loved One so you're bound to love it too! Need one for your lower half? Here you go: LVC 1954 501 ZXX |
