ITEM OF THE WEEK Working in the freezing weather to prepare the soil for planting in the spring, riding on the back of a powerful steed to round-up cattle in a corral, or simply chopping firewood for the coming winter so that you can stay warm; a denim jacket was always there. For the better part of two centuries the Denim Jacket has always been part of the history of the United States. Since Cone Mills opened, they have been making selvage fabric for vintage clothing companies and Levi's was the first one to produce the Type II Denim Jacket. It's a multipurpose jacket that can be worn for style or for actual work. Truckers commonly wear them because of their versatility. Since they're made of selvage denim, it becomes a replica of a time-worn look, since it's rigid, you're guaranteed that it's going to fade, and fade well. The fades achieved from wearing such a jacket will amaze and astound yourself and those around you since it's a jacket that you'll have for years to come. It's great to wear in spring time when it's just a bit chilly outside, underneath you can wear a simple tee shirt but when the snow starts falling, feel free to layer up with a flannel and vest underneath! This is a piece of history that has been replicated by many companies but the one that stands out the most is the Double RRL Type II Rigid jacket as it's the most accurate with side cinches, riveted flaps for the patch pockets, and did we mention it's made of selvage denim? Yes it is! Made of Cone Denim in the United States so it truly is a classic piece of repro history, the only one that you'll ever need for years. Your collection will thank you for having this piece of history in your closet and remember that you need to wear it for 6 months before washing but you can wear it much longer since it's a jacket and the fades that you'll achieve will rival any distressed jacket that you've seen. Be like the cowboys and farmers of the past, wear a Type II Denim Jacket and be sure it's selvage for continuity! Need one to wear for the season? Find it here: Type II Jacket |
